Greetings, We hope you have had a great week and are looking forward to the 4th of July weekend! Congressman Kim was around the community all week, visiting with students, speaking with local leaders, and hosting his June town hall! We hope our New Jersey Muslim communities had a warm and peaceful Eid al-Adha celebration earlier this week. Eid Mubarak! As always, we hope you find these updates and resources helpful. Congressman Kim Holds 64th Town Hall On Monday, Congressman Kim hosted his 64th town hall in East Windsor. It was great to hear from neighbors and answer some of your questions. Congressman Kim was proud to be joined by Tiffany Starr from Moms Demand Action to share her personal experience with gun violence and help commemorate Gun Violence Awareness Month. During the town hall, Congressman Kim spoke about his continued commitment to combat gun violence and make our communities safer, including through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which he helped pass into law last year. He also discussed his work to expand access to mental healthcare, support care workers, his push to provide all servicemembers with the healthcare benefits they deserve, and his continued efforts to deliver the local investments secured through recent infrastructure legislation and the bipartisan infrastructure law. Congressman Kim Visits STEMKAMP at North Hanover Township This week, the Congressman enjoyed visiting with students at the North Hanover Township Schools participating in STEMKAMP. This 5-day camp is an excellent opportunity for kids of active military personnel to grow their passion for STEM. During the camp, 3rd through 8th graders participated in hands-on STEM-based activities based on this year’s theme “Disaster Masters.” | Meetings with Local Leaders and Neighbors As always, Congressman Kim loves being home in the district to be able to meet with so many different experts, leaders, and community organizers to hear more about their work and talk about how he can support their needs. Early this week, the Congressman met with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society to hear more about their mission to support refugees and asylum seekers around the world. | He also convened a roundtable with local community leaders and Mayors to discuss the economic and environmental impact of warehouses and how we can work together to address challenges, concerns, and look out for the needs of our community. After convening the warehousing roundtable, Congressman Kim visited the HRP Mercer Logistics Park, a 1.23 million square foot logistics facility located on the site of the former Mercer Generating Station. There he discussed ongoing efforts to use rehabilitation in a way that creates jobs, meets the needs of our communities, and considers environmental and economic concerns. | LGBTQ+ Pride Month As June comes to a close, so does LGBTQ+ Pride Month. This week, we celebrated the 8th anniversary of marriage equality becoming the law of the land and 54 years since the Stonewall Uprising. We will always stand with the LGBTQ+ community against bigotry and hate until everyone is treated equal under the law. Interested in Receiving Other Updates?
