Put the best players in, coach!
I’m happy to see the Supreme Court’s ruling to put an end to the practice of affirmative action.
The use of race as a factor in college admissions undermines the bedrock on which higher education prides itself on—hard work and determination. As Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in his majority opinion, "Many universities have for too long done just the opposite. And in doing so, they have concluded, wrongly, that the touchstone of an individual’s identity is not challenges bested, skills built, or lessons learned but the color of their skin.”
Our nation’s educational institutions claimed affirmative action “promoted diversity,” but all it really wound up doing was drive a wedge between students on campuses across America. Instead of admissions being based on merit, the higher education overlords created a system where students felt mismatched and second fiddle.
At the end of the day, affirmative action IS racial discrimination. Let's embrace a future where admissions are built upon equal opportunities, focusing on academic performance, extracurricular talents, and the qualities that define outstanding leaders, without any regard for the color of their skin. Together, we can build a level playing field that inspires folks and fosters true inclusivity.
