Senator Tim Scott, a Republican from South Carolina and a 2024 presidential candidate, expressed his support for the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule affirmative action in college admissions. During an appearance on “The Faulkner Focus,” he also addressed former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama’s comments expressing concern for the future of young people after the ruling. Scott accused the Obamas and others on the left of spreading falsehoods about opportunity in America, stating that such claims were “lies from the pit of hell.”

The recent Supreme Court ruling states that race cannot be considered as a factor in college admissions, but the ruling explicitly excludes the U.S. military academies from this restriction. The Biden administration, in an amicus curiae filing, requested that these academies be allowed to continue practicing affirmative action by considering race in their admissions process.
