Folks,
When I first reached out to you all as the new President of the Young Democrats of North Carolina, I did so with a mission of energizing young Democrats across North Carolina to turn out and vote for Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024 and beyond.
Today alone, a far-right, out of touch Supreme Court has given its endorsement to allow for bigots to openly discriminate against our LGBTQ+ siblings and shackled tens of millions of people with student loan debt they can only dream of paying off.
Many members of this organization - some of the most passionate and devoted activists in this state - feel nothing but disappointment and anger in light of the continued right wing Republican attacks against President Biden as he continues to deliver relief to the working and middle classes, after years of a devastating pandemic and the economic turmoil that resulted from it.
But we know we have more work to do. Here at home, we have to fight to keep Mark Robinson out of the governor’s mansion in 2024. We have to win critical judicial races, and we have to get out of the superminority in the General Assembly. Can you commit today to assisting our efforts in winning these critical races next year?
YDNC is united in this belief. Young Democrats across this state know it falls on us to beat back the tide of extremism in North Carolina as the GOP gerrymander our state, restrict the right to vote, and attack kids for being who they are.
Our only way forward is by doing the hard work: engaging high school and college students in places the Democratic Party hasn’t been in for a long time, meeting people where they are from Murphy to Manteo, training young people to be organizers in their communities, and building power for young people in North Carolina and across the country.
With your help today, we can supercharge these efforts and give the GOP hell in 2024.
Let’s roll,
Dorian N. Palmer
President of YDNC
