It's summer in Miami-Dade! From summer camps to swimming lessons, outdoor activities are in full swing across our County. It’s the perfect time to remind ourselves about water safety, hurricane preparedness, and protection from extreme heat. And this summer, we’re also celebrating love and inclusivity as we close out Pride Month.

Hurricane Preparedness
The 2023 hurricane season is here. The best way to stay safe this season is to stay prepared. Here’s what you can do to help you and your loved ones be storm ready:
Visit miamidade.gov/hurricane to download this year’s Hurricane Readiness guide and other vital resources, or pick up the guide at your local public library.
Remember – stay informed, be storm ready, and make a plan.
Cooling down in Miami-Dade
Our County’s water safety initiative, SPLASH, is working to ensure everyone can have fun and stay safe in and around our County’s many bodies of water by increasing access to swimming education. Residents from every corner of our county can take advantage of Miami-Dade Parks Learn2Swim lessons and various summer camps!
Earlier this month, I also joined Sandy Dorsainvil and the Prosperity Social Community Development Group to launch the the A&A Swimming Institute. In honor of Alex and Andrew Paul, the institute is dedicated to teaching Miami-Dade’s children to swim, ensuring safer summers for all.
But the summer months also mean Heat Season, and Miami-Dade is no stranger to extreme heat. Here you can find our Extreme Heat Action Plan, heat safety tips, and ways to cool your home.
