John,

In case you missed it, a recent study published in The Seattle Times showed that Washington workers need to earn TWICE the minimum wage to afford a 1-bedroom apartment anywhere in Washington and still have enough left over to afford other essentials. The numbers are even harder for families.

This is unacceptable, and it isn’t just bad for workers and families – it’s bad for our entire economy. When people have more money in their pockets from lower housing costs, they spend more money in their local communities, and businesses make more and hire more people. It’s how we grow the economy from the middle out.

I’ve seen the housing crisis in every corner of the state, not just in cities like Seattle and Spokane. It’s a crisis in places like Longview and Lewiston too. And I understand the challenges Washington’s working families face because I’ve lived them myself – as a young child experiencing housing insecurity and as an adult working two jobs to go to college and make ends meet.

I’m running for governor to address our housing crisis head-on.

Will you pitch in $10 right now so we can work together to tackle this challenge and ensure that no one has to sacrifice their health, child care, or groceries to afford rent?

As governor, I’m prepared to meet this challenge and create a Washington where everyone has the resources they need to thrive. But, John, I can’t do it alone. I need to know: Will you pitch in what you’re able to my campaign before our big end-of-quarter deadline tonight?

Sincerely,

Hilary

As commissioner of public lands, Hilary took bold action to defend our lands and bring people together to solve statewide issues, like increasing funding for our schools, investing in economic development, and tackling our wildfire crisis. Now, she’s ready to continue this work as governor to ensure that we enact meaningful change that will last for generations to come. Can we count on you to pitch in $10 or whatever you're able to elect Hilary as our next governor?
