John, While you're reading this email, logging companies are cutting down some of the oldest trees on our public lands. Every single day, bulldozers, chainsaws and heavy machinery are slashing mature and old-growth trees to the ground in a matter of minutes. We don't have time to waste if we're going to save our country's last old-growth and mature forests. We're determined to stop these logging projects, but we can't do it alone. Our oldest forests are on the chopping block -- and if we lose mature and old-growth trees, they'll take decades or even centuries to grow back. Federal agencies are allowing 20 logging projects to move forward in mature and old-growth forests. That's on top of the last two centuries of logging on public lands -- which reduced most of America's once-abundant old-growth forests to stumps.1 Many of our oldest trees could be erased in an instant, but it's not too late to act. The Biden administration can choose to protect mature and old-growth trees on federal land, rather than selling them off to the timber industry. To make that happen, we're growing our campaign to protect our forests. Your support will help us do all that we can to save our forests from destruction. And if you give today, your support will be matched by generous donors, up to $20,000 nationwide. Make your matched donation today to help keep forests standing. Thank you, Ellen Montgomery Your donation will be used to support all of our campaigns to protect the environment, from saving the bees and protecting public lands, to standing up for clean water and fighting climate change. None of our work would be possible without supporters like you. Environment Colorado may transfer up to $50 per dues-paying member per year into the Environment Colorado Small Donor Committee. |
