Friends, before we head into the Fourth of July weekend (and before you rightfully turn off your email notifications), I hope you’ll read this brief note.

The upcoming holiday is a good reminder that keeping our democracy means participating and protecting it from those who wish to bend it to their will or destroy it outright.

People like my far-right opponent want to undo years of progress by denying the realities of the climate disaster, banning abortion, overturning marriage equality, and espousing views that don’t represent the people of California’s 51st District or the majority of Americans.

Running for re-election to the House of Representatives is a tough job, but knowing that I’m doing everything I can to represent the people in my district and Americans all over the country makes it all worth it.

From all the volunteers who’ve helped us knock on doors over the years, to all the grassroots donors who help us hit our goals, to all the voters who take the time to go to the polls or mail in their ballots – thank you for continuing to show up and show your support.
