In addition, a series of cohort convenings, facilitated by cohort advisors, will provide opportunities to connect in small groups, explore content more deeply, receive coaching, create accountability for growth goals, and form deep relationships with colleagues from across the country.

Last year’s program sold out early, so be sure to reserve your spot soon.

“In response to whatever the court offers, ABFE is committed to supporting the sector in a multi-pronged approach. We will curate and design tools and strategies for foundations and nonprofits to use when responding to backlash on racial equity and will arm the ABFE community and our allies to move with legal understanding and confidence, not retreat in fear, to ensure that we continue to prioritize our shared commitment to equity. … This resource bank will be continuously updated as information is shared, and tools are released.” [more] ([link removed])
ABFE

“Because of America’s history of racial inequities, among other forms of oppression, supporting racial diversity has been a key part of philanthropy’s work toward the greater good. The Supreme Court’s ruling limiting the use of race-conscious admissions in higher education is disappointing, but we remain committed to helping our members who support that field to continue to work toward diversity within the confines of federal law.” [more] ([link removed])
Council on Foundations

“These rulings take away an important framework to address deeply rooted historic and systemic racism and are likely to remove bridges that have played a pivotal role in access to equitable opportunities. The work of forging new paths that lead to higher education and supporting students from diverse backgrounds at every step just became even more important.” [more] ([link removed])
LaJune Montgomery Tabron, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, in the Chronicle of Philanthropy

“Although brought within the framework of college admission practices, the cases are widely seen as heralding broader restrictions on the use of race as a factor in other forms of organizational and institutional decision-making – in hiring and promoting workers, making grants, entering into contracts, and potentially a great deal more. These are issues we all have reason to be concerned about – whether in the form of confusion, anger, anxiety, or otherwise.”[more] ([link removed])
Rip Rapson, Kresge Foundation

“The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision that it is unconstitutional for colleges and universities to consider race during the admissions process will negatively impact many students of color, limiting their access to educational opportunities that create a path to a better living and a better life. Postsecondary education is a proven ladder out of poverty, a key to the middle class and better job opportunities, but the sad reality is that access to education has never been provided equally in America.”[more] ([link removed])
Mark Suzman, The Gates Foundation, via Twitter

“The materials [compiled by the Hewlett Foundation] encompass a range of perspectives on the potential scenarios and implications resulting from the Supreme Court decisions. We plan to update this regularly as more resources become available. By offering these resources, we hope to help inform foundations and nonprofits so that, together, we can identify the best paths forward to continue advancing the cause of racial equity.” [more] ([link removed])

“The memorandum [from Munger, Tolles, & Olson] sets forth three potential outcomes in the [Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina] cases and walks through the implications of each for the diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in which charitable foundations and nonprofits presently engage.” [more] ([link removed])
