Dear John,

Rupert the meerkat in one of many of animals living in captivity in the UK right now. He may be one of many, but he is also an individual and that’s what we see. We see an individual, with needs and wants just like we have.

I know, as you do, that he does not want to live in a cage, simply to exist to entertain humans. He wants to live free, with his family, in a natural environment where he can sunbathe, rub in mud and look after his family as meerkats do.

At Freedom for Animals, we work tirelessly to fight against the captivity of animals. Animals who are locked in cages, transported around the country and even forced to do degrading and often painful tricks. We must ensure we are there for every single individual. For all the Ruperts out there who just want to be free!

John, that is why I am asking you today if you could set up a monthly donation to make sure we can keep up that fight for animals.

It is activists like you that keep our campaigns for animal freedom alive!

Sadly, already this year we have had many reports of animal suffering.

One person reached out to us after they saw birds of prey being used in a display in their local town. They said birds were tethered when not forced to perform or have selfies taken with the public. They also added that one bird was 'exhausted and hot and really didn't want to be handled and forced to perform. They were visibly distressed'

Another told us of awful conditions at an animal circus currently touring the UK. They reported that 'many animals were being forced to perform in the show including four llamas and a very sad looking donkey' and added that 'they were all being forced to perform by being whipped.'

We can only be here to answer these calls from the public with your support. Sadly, we know this is just the start. We need your help to fight for animals and their freedom throughout 2023.

Please will you join us today by setting up a monthly gift? ([link removed])

As a charity who campaigns for animal rights, we receive no funding from the Government. We also often can't access Grant funding due to our strong ethical position.

So we must rely almost completely on the kindness of animal advocates like you to make sure we can do what we do to help animals.

By becoming a Freedom Champion today and setting up a monthly gift, you can help us to plan ahead and know exactly what campaigns we can deliver for animals. You can help create long lasting change for animals!

Right now, we have 202 people who donate monthly to our campaigns for animals. But we need to double that number to be able to deliver our campaign strategy to fight for animals.

Will you be one of those special people today, one of our wonderful Freedom Champions? ([link removed])

You will join us and our other amazing monthly donors, and help make 2023 a year of change for animals in need!

Thank you,

Laura Tomlinson

P.S. Will you become one of our amazing monthly donors and ensure life-saving campaigns for animals can continue? ([link removed]) We must keep fighting! Thank you.
