In observance of the Independence Day holiday, PACEs Connection staff will be taking time off through July 4, 2023. This will allow us to enjoy the time with our families. We will be back July 5, 2023. We hope you all enjoy the holiday with your families.
I do believe we are our own best healers, that laughter is some of the best medicine, and that being able to look back on adversity with curiosity, compassion, and grace adds years to our lives.

Having an adverse childhood experience has been found to have negative impacts on mental development and success as an adult and has even been linked to early mortality.
Research led by Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, has investigated associations of adverse childhood experiences with changes in epigenetic age acceleration.
Study authors said that experiences of racism in high-stakes situations, like police interactions, can cause stress that stems into racial health disparities in cardiovascular disease.
As a researcher focused on Black youth suicide and a person who identifies as biracial, my heart hurts knowing that so many Black youth are dying from a preventable cause.
July is a time to celebrate all summer has to offer by building bridges and innovating with community to get to the heart of trauma-informed awareness and resilience building. This month, we’ve added new July dates to the summer 2023 *CRC* curriculum—but that’s only half of the good news.
