Work starts up again on new council homes in Top Valley

Housing Development

I?m delighted that works are restarting next week to create 106 affordable homes in Top Valley for local people on the waiting list.?

Lovell Partnership will be completing the build of the first phase after the original contractor ceased to trade last September. Altogether,? 23 one-bed flats, 63 two-bed houses and 20 three-beds will be built on the site of the former Eastglade School, with the aim of people on our waiting list beginning to move in from October.

Lovells are also building 131 council homes on the former Padstow School playing fields off Beckhampton Road in Bestwood Park.

The homes are well-designed and energy efficient ? places where people will be proud to live.

Region?s biggest free festival returns this summer

Riverside Festival

Along with Nottingham Beach and Splendour, summer wouldn?t be summer in Nottingham without the Riverside Festival, which will be back as it has been for the last 40 years at the Victoria Embankment from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 August 2023.

The biggest free festival in the East Midlands is expected to welcome 150,000 visitors alongside the River Trent over the weekend, offering a wide range of entertainment and activities for all ages.

A mile-long stretch of fairground rides, games and attractions will be situated along the banks of the Trent, plus numerous street food vendors, bars and market stalls. River-based activities including Dragon Boat Racing will return, which raises thousands of pounds for charities over the years.

Music has always been at the heart of Riverside Festival, and this year is no different with a variety of solo artists, bands and musicians performing across three stages.

Of course one of the most popular elements of the festival is the firework display above the river, which takes place on both Friday and Saturday night at 10.30pm.

ASB Awareness Week, 3 ? 9 July

ASBAW

We want all our residents to feel safe where they live. That?s why, each year, we support ASB Awareness Week ? to help raise awareness of anti-social behaviour, the impact it can have on the lives of those who are affected by it, how we can support residents who are suffering and how we will deal with those who are committing acts of ASB.? ?

This year?s theme is Know your Rights ? with a particular focus on the ASB Case Review (often referred to as Community Trigger), and we?re using the week to raise awareness of Housing Services? recently launched ASB reporting app.

You can find out more about ASB Awareness Week at the ASB Awareness Week website?

Tragic incident

I was shocked and saddened to hear about the incident on a Nottingham tram earlier this week where a man sadly lost his life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, and with those who were on the tram at the time.

It?s encouraging that Nottinghamshire Police have acted so swiftly in arresting a suspect. We are working with them to provide highly visible patrols and reassurance to our communities.
