John,
Our FEC fundraising deadline is just a few hours away, so I want to explain why we're asking for your donation right now.
The Supreme Court is killing America, threatening our fundamental rights and freedoms at every turn. They're blocking student loan forgiveness, banning affirmative action in college admissions, tearing apart environmental protections, and making it harder for us to get justice from the courts. Asking for your small-dollar donation may seem like too little right now, but winning reelection is the only way we will be able to keep a progressive bloc in our House of Representatives to fight back against these attacks.
Together, we can channel our outrage into action and make sure we have the votes needed to push back against the far right. That's why we're asking for a huge favor — can you make a contribution tonight to help power our reelection effort?
Already, we're seeing how important it is to keep organizing our progressive movement. Not long ago, holding the Supreme Court accountable for its far-right turn and its conflicts of interest was a position only held by me and my progressive colleagues.
People are now seeing the Supreme Court for what it's been for too long: A corrupt institution bought and bossed by billionaires and corporate interests.
So we have to investigate these serious allegations of corruption on the part of Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas and more. We're going to fight like hell to codify abortion rights, repair environmental protections, and find a new path to forgive student loans. But we can only achieve any of this by protecting and expanding the power of progressives within the Democratic party. Without that, we're stuck with a complacent establishment and inaction.
Reaching our fundraising target will mean I can continue speaking truth to power in Congress. The stakes could not be higher. If we successfully expand Democratic power in 2024 we can start to enact legislation that codifies abortion rights, environmental protection, and voting rights that the Supreme Court has torn apart.
It's a tough fight, but we know what we have to do — now we must come together and get to work. If you can make a contribution before our deadline tonight it will help fund our efforts.
Thank you for your support — it means the world to me.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
