John,
Our Founders gave Supreme Court justices lifetime appointments with the intention of ensuring impartiality and isolating the judges from external political and social pressures. Since then, however, the Court has become deeply politicized and dangerously incompatible with our nation’s highest ideals.
From gutting voting rights to overturning Roe v. Wade, SCOTUS is implementing anti-democratic decisions most Americans strongly oppose. And now, in the midst of the greatest affordability crisis in recent memory, the Supreme Court rejected student loan forgiveness, making it worse for people who are struggling the most. Lifetime appointments mean the Supreme Court will remain out of touch with popular opinion for decades to come. That’s why we need term limits for justices. Sign if you agree: Term limits will restore credibility to the Supreme Court.

To re-establish the Supreme Court as an impartial, nonpartisan branch of the federal government, I introduced the Supreme Court Term Limits and Regular Appointments Act, which would create an 18-year term limit for justices. Justices would no longer have an incentive to strategize and plan their retirements around whichever party holds the White House. The goal of this bill is to ensure that justices are not too far out of step with the current generation.
Sign the petition: Demand 18-year term limits for Supreme Court justices.
It’s time to get the Supreme Court back on track. Let’s get my bill passed and make SCOTUS term limits a reality. In solidarity,
