Higher Education's Role in Promoting Constitutional Democracy

The annual Higher Education Forum took place in Aspen, CO on June 12-15, which convened leaders from the Academy’s Affiliate institutions and other key college and university stakeholders to discuss the role of higher education in protecting, supporting, and reimagining American democracy. As one of the featured speakers, Ben Vinson, Provost and Executive Vice President, Case Western Reserve University and co-chair of the Academy’s working group on Building Democratic Citizens in Higher Education, shared the Academy’s efforts in advancing democratic citizenship at colleges and universities across the country. Carnegie Corporation to Invest $6 Million Annually to Research Political Polarization in the U.S.

For at least the next three years, Carnegie Corporation of New York, as part of its Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program, will commit $6 million annually to develop a body of research around the root causes of political polarization. Read more about the commitment here
