Friend, the EATS Act could target pro-animal welfare state laws that ban confining egg-laying hens, mother pigs and veal calves. And it could destroy hundreds of other state laws that protect animals from terrible cruelty—like dogs in puppy mills, animals killed in the horrific wildlife trade and innocent animals enduring painful experiments for cosmetics testing.

Protections for people could also be caught up in the sweeping changes the EATS Act could trigger. Laws that regulate pesticide application on fields, arsenic in food, lead poisoning, chemicals in baby food, pollution standards for spraying sewage on crops, flammability standards for cigarettes, and child labor are just a few of the things that could be undermined.
