Last year, I flipped a 50-year Republican stronghold district blue, becoming the first Democrat to represent Grand Rapids in Congress in nearly half a century – and the first woman to ever represent this district in Washington.

As I reach out to voters and supporters across the country to secure investments for my re-election campaign, I keep hearing the same thing: folks telling me that they don’t usually get involved in campaigns this early in the cycle.
