Dear John,
The Supreme Court eliminated the constitutional framework for the right to access abortion one year ago this week. Since then, with your support, the physicians in PRH’s network have done what we have always done — provided compassionate care for our communities while working towards a better future where no one is denied bodily autonomy.
We did this while facing an ever worsening flood of attacks that seek to shame, punish, and criminalize people seeking abortions and their health care providers. Despite these hardships, we’ve fought back, built power, and made progress in pushing back against these assaults on our basic human rights.
The work of PRH remains vital, and we know that when we build power in and with our communities, we are unstoppable — and you are such an important part of that community. With your support, we will continue speaking out against these attacks. And in that spirit, I hope you’ll check out this Associated Press article that tells the story of PRH Fellow and ob/gyn Dr. Alecia Fields and her decision to move back to her native Kentucky around the Dobbs decision to meet the needs of patients in rural areas and who face the state's near-total abortion ban.
Thank you for supporting our physician advocates through a year of unbelievable heartbreak and beautiful displays of resilience. Your support is a lifeline that fuels our fight to protect our communities today and into the future.
With gratitude,
—Dr. Jamila Perritt, President & CEO |
