When families can’t find access to quality child care it often means they need to stop working. For families living in under-resourced communities, this can mean choosing between things like buying groceries and paying their bills. And for children, this often means they aren’t getting the quality care and education needed to set them up for success in school and life.


On average, children from under-resourced communities enter kindergarten 18 months behind their more advantaged peers. This opportunity gap can be measured as early as 9 months.


Kindergarten is too late to remediate this gap – we must start sooner.
