A year ago this month, the conservative majority on the Supreme Court decided to go against decades of precedent and overturn Roe v. Wade, putting abortion rights across the country in jeopardy.
Since then, abortion access has changed significantly state-to-state. While Democratic-led states fought to solidify abortion rights, Republican-controlled states immediately began passing radical, restrictive policies. In fact, 25 states have either banned abortion or put tighter restrictions around who can access abortion care — and 13 of those states have no exception for rape or incest.
This ruling was one of the most devastating Supreme Court decisions in our lifetime, but thankfully Dem AGs were there to take immediate action to fight back against extreme anti-abortion policies wherever they could — but we know Republicans won’t be satisfied until abortion is completely outlawed in our country.
Republicans have been chomping at the bit to cut abortion rights, and as soon as the Dobbs decision came down, they jumped at the chance. One after the other, GOP-led states started restricting abortion access — it was almost like they were each trying to one-up each other.
From Florida to Idaho to Indiana to Texas, these extremist GOP policies are stripping people of their right to bodily autonomy, and we need leaders who will fight back.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and we can't stop now – will you chip in today?
