Dear Reader,
Putting personal feelings aside is often cited as a key skill to create good journalism, and it’s true that we continually strive to avoid bias. However, this does not mean that journalists don’t have feelings about the things they report on — quite the opposite. The people on our team do this work because they care deeply about what’s happening to people in our community, whether it’s success, struggle or stagnation.

This video encapsulates what we do and why we do it. At the end, we say, “You can help us make journalism for a better Pittsburgh,” and right now is the perfect time to do it. Your donation to help power our newsroom is DOUBLED — but only until midnight, when the match pool vanishes. Please don’t leave money that can create positive impact in our region on the table: Give generously right now.
