Each June, GLSEN joins the tens of millions of people around the world celebrating Pride and recognizing how far we have come as a community and culture. Unfortunately, ongoing aggression and efforts to erase LGBTQ+ youth have not stopped during this celebration.

In recent months we’ve seen attacks on LGBTQ+ students and families play out in real time in news headlines and on social media. A violent, angry minority are attempting to hold our democracy, our school systems, and our community hostage.

As LGBTQ+ students continue to be caught in the cross-hairs, I hope we can count on you. Students need us to stand with them. They need to know they are not alone.

Support systems for LGBTQ+ students, such as GSA clubs and school policies that allow them to participate safely in all parts of school life, are at risk of being eliminated.
