** Surrey Heath News
------------------------------------------------------------
Chief Constable of Surrey Police: Last week, I visited Mount Browne in Guildford to meet the new Chief Constable of Surrey Police, Tim De Meyer. It was very interesting to speak to him, and it was incredibly helpful to hear all about his priorities, particularly on violence against women and girls, mental health and anti-social behaviour.

Farnborough Airport airspace changes: I know that some constituents in Mytchett have expressed concerns about an increase in noise and pollution from Farnborough Airport, and on 19th June I wrote to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) following the submission of Farnborough Airport’s Post Implementation Report concerning the Farnborough Airspace Change that was introduced on 27th February 2020. You can find out more here ([link removed]) .

Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour Survey: I would like to hear from Surrey Heath residents about crime and anti-social behaviour in the constituency, and I have recently posted a survey on my website ([link removed]) . If you can, please do take a few moments to complete the form and to share your thoughts before the closing date on 12th July.

HMP Coldingley: I had a very informative visit to HMP Coldingley in Bisley last Friday where I spoke to the Prison Reform Trust and to several prisoners serving life sentences to hear about their experiences.

M3 Noise & Air Pollution: On 23rd June, I met representatives from National Highways in Windlesham, overlooking the M3, together with local County Councillors, Richard Tear and Rebecca Jennings Evans, and local resident Graham Bullen. We had a very helpful discussion about tackling noise and air pollution emanating from the motorway, and I will be writing again to the Environment Secretary about what more can be done to mitigate the problems.

South East Water Tongham Works: On 15th June, I posted an update regarding planned works on The Street in Tongham by South East Water. Following a public meeting with residents last week, I have since been informed that the works, which were due to commence on Monday, have now been postponed until further notice. I will be sure to share any updates once received.

Chobham Sewage Treatment Works: Following further communication with Thames Water, I received an update on these works over the weekend which you can read here ([link removed]) . and I shall be keeping a very close eye on the situation.

Surrey Heath Borough Commander: On 9th June, I met Surrey Heath’s new Borough Commander, Sam Turner. We discussed several important issues, including violence against women and girls, combating drugs, speeding and vehicle theft, and I was encouraged to hear about the hard work that is being done to tackle crime in Surrey Heath. I was also pleased to hear that Surrey Heath has the lowest crime in Surrey, and I am so grateful for all the work that Sam and his team do for residents.

Citizens Advice Surrey Heath: In early June, I had a catch up with the brilliant team at Citizens Advice Surrey Heath, and they updated me on lots of issues, including complaints relating to Accent Housing. Citizens Advice Surrey Heath provides a vital service to residents and please do check out their website ([link removed]) , which has lots of useful information.

** Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities News
------------------------------------------------------------
Economic Activity of Public Bodies (Overseas Matters) Bill: On 19th June, I announced a Bill banning UK public bodies from imposing their own boycott or divestment campaigns against foreign countries and territories. You can read more here ([link removed]) .

DLUHC Questions: At the beginning of June, my departmental colleagues and I answered Levelling Up, Housing and Communities questions in the House of Commons Chamber. You can watch the session here ([link removed]) .

Unleashing Rural Opportunity: Communities and businesses in the most remote areas will benefit from better access to wireless networks thanks to plans announced this month as part of the government’s wider drive to grow the rural economy. You can read more here ([link removed]) .
