Truth Social, the former president blasted Fox News, saying the network

A new NBC News poll found a sharp uptick in voters picking GOP Sen. Tim
Scott as their Second-favorite candidate in the Republican primary.

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott is getting the attention of republican
primary voters.

He gets support from just 3% of Republicans as their first choice in the
GOP presidential primary, according to the latest national NBC News poll.
But that's just part of the picture: The number of GOP voters who see Scott
as their second-choice candidate has risen sharply - more than any other
Republican candidate polled by NBC news from April to June.

In June, 12% of those polled said the same, a 9-point increase over the 3%
who said so in April.

Scott is still trailing four other candidates - former President Donald
Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and
former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley - among voters selecting their first
choice candidate in a Republican primary. His 3% first-choice number is the

Montana Republicans are third state legislators to receive letters with
mysterious white powder

Republican lawmakers in Montana are sharing that they received letters with
white powder as federal agents investigate mysterious substances similarly
mailed to GOP officials in two other states.

In a Friday night tweet, Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte said he has
received "disturbing" reports of anonymous threats sent to legislators. The
Montana attorney general posted on Facebook that the local sheriff's office
collected evidence after his mother, a state representative, opened one
letter with a "white powder substance" sent to her home address. [4]Read

Timothy Hill wins Republican primary for Scotty Campbell's former House
seat

Timothy Hill won the Republican primary in the race to replace former state
Rep. Scotty Campbell, who resigned in April.

Hill defeated Stacy Vaughan for the Republican nomination and will face
Democrat Lori Love in the August special general election for the House
District 3 seat.

"We campaigned hard, it was a short campaign, but the response has just
been tremendous and we're just very grateful. I'm very grateful," Hill

Former Texas Rep. Will Hurd may be a long shot to be the Republican nominee
for president, but his entry into the race Thursday was a benchmark: Of the
12 major GOP candidates, half are people of color.

Why it matters: It's a historic turn for Republicans, who in recent years
have made a point of trying to recruit more minorities for public office
— and have made slight gains among minority voters in recent elections.
* Democrats continue to be far more diverse — 80% of the minorities in
the current Congress are Democrats — and Black and Latino voters still
favor the party by wide margins in national and most congressional
elections.

Fed Admits Inflation Has A Long Way To Go

On Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicated to the House
Financial Services Committee that interest rate hikes may be on pause but
aren't over. From his prepared remarks, there is an expectation "that it
will be appropriate to raise interest rates somewhat further by the end of
the year." He reiterated his commitment to achieving the 2% inflation
target but that bringing inflation down to that level has a "long way to
go." [7]
