Friend –
Tuesday night was a huge one for working-class families across the city – 9 of NYCC’s endorsed City Council candidates won their primary elections!
Each candidate is a fierce champion for our communities, and we’re so proud to support them:
✅ Tiffany Caban - District 22
✅ Carmen de la Rosa - District 10
✅ Pierina Sanchez - District 14
✅ Lincoln Restler - District 33
✅ Rita joseph - District 40
✅ Shahana Hanif - District 39
✅ Jennifer Gutierrez - District 34
✅ Alexa Aviles - District 38
✅Sandy Nurse - District 37
City council elections are especially critical at this moment. Eric Adams is pushing for a city budget that cuts almost $1 BILLION in funding to public schools, impacting programs like 3-K education and affordable childcare.
These budget cuts don’t stop at education – essential services like food assistance, elder care, and housing support are on the chopping block with the Mayor’s budget plan.
We know we need a budget that cares for our communities’ needs, and we need more city council members who vote for and with our grassroots movement. Supporting incredible progressive candidates who are committed to the movement means we can win deeper investments in our communities.
Our continued fight for a just, equitable city budget means we need to elect city council members who not only hear our concerns but fight with us every step of the way.
Will you join us and contribute $10 to fuel our organizing so we can elect progressive council members and pass a city budget that takes care of our communities?
We won’t let up on passing a city budget that makes our communities safer or to elect the council members who won’t either – and we’re glad you’re with us, [Firstname].
Until we win,
The NYCC team
P.S. We’re days away from a council vote on the city budget – Mayor Adams’ budget proposal still contains hundreds of millions of cuts to schools and essential services.
We need to keep the pressure on – can you send a message to Mayor Adams and your city council member demanding #CareNotCuts?
