Hi John.
I know Kansas families continue to struggle with higher prices on everything from gas to groceries.
Inflation hurts everyone, but especially people living on fixed incomes like my mom. She’s a retired postal worker and veteran. No one should have their budget squeezed even more.
That’s why today, I wanted to let you know that my team has updated my Lower Costs for Kansans web page. My web page has resources to help folks find cheaper local gas stations or find relief for groceries, housing, health care, taxes, utilities, credit card bills, and much more.
Please click here to visit davids.house.gov/lowercosts to find resources for you and your family. Feel free to share it with anyone you know!
I understand folks continue to feel the pinch from higher prices. That’s why I’m pushing for concrete and bipartisan solutions to lower costs and am connecting Kansans with all the resources that I can.
I understand times are tough for many people right now. Thankfully, at the same time, we’re also seeing some key improvements in our economy that we can build on. For example, our economy created a record-breaking 13 million jobs over the last two years.
We're also seeing progress locally. Panasonic's new battery plant in De Soto means thousands of new, good-paying jobs.
Just earlier today, I was honored to help break ground on the De Soto Local Road Improvements project. This will be the main roadway for those traveling to the planned Panasonic Energy manufacturing facility. I worked closely with Governor Kelly, and leaders in both parties like Senator Jerry Moran, to help attract this $4 billion investment to our region.
To keep moving forward, I’m focused on concrete and bipartisan solutions to lower prices.
My priority is building an economy that works for everyone, especially for folks in the middle- and working-classes.
That’s why I’ve helped pass laws to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and strengthen U.S. manufacturing and supply chains. It’s time to make more products in Kansas, not China.
I also pushed back against drug companies by voting to pass a law that finally lets Medicare cap insulin prices at $35 a month and negotiate for lower prescription drug prices.
We’re also seeing progress on infrastructure. I worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass a bipartisan infrastructure law. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says the law is fiscally responsible. Today, it’s supporting Kansas jobs by modernizing U.S. 69 in Overland Park, expanding K-68 in Miami County, and replacing lead pipes in Olathe.
I know there’s a lot more to do. So as this work continues, please know that my team and I are always here for you – regardless of party.
That’s why our web page has a variety of resources that can help you. That’s everything from –
• Help with taxes. • Assistance with surprise medical bills. • Credit card bill relief. • Even how to claim lost funds that you’re owed for free.
And if you need any help with the federal government, whether that’s a stalled passport or backlogged veterans’ benefits, . Our next Pop Up is in Ottawa on Monday, July 10th.
Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. You deserve a government that works for you – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. And if you know anyone who needs help, please feel free to forward this message to anyone you know!
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
