2022 was a historic year for Democrats. Democratic governors won in states across the country and I became the first Democratic governor to win in Arizona in over a decade. Since then, I’ve made historic investments in affordable housing, public education, building roads, fixing bridges, and expanding health insurance access for thousands of children.

But that hasn’t stopped GOP extremists from targeting me. When I ran for governor, I promised the people of Arizona I would get to work on day one. I knew extreme Republicans were going to send a wave of anti-democratic legislation to my desk, and that’s exactly what’s happened, Laura. This year, extreme Arizona Republican state legislators introduced so many harmful bills last session that I set a veto record stopping them.

Make no mistake: these extremists aren’t outliers. They’re following the GOP’s official playbook and they’re not backing down – not here in Arizona or in states across the country.
