It's hard to believe we're already half way through 2023!
This month some of the hidden consequences of Labor's decisions have been revealed - including the impacts of changes to Pharmacy dispensing rules [[link removed]], which are set to result in less services, shorter opening hours, and job losses.
I held a roundtable with local pharmacists, [[link removed]] raised their concerns in Parliament [[link removed]]and will continue to push for Labor to recognise the consequences of the proposed change.
We've also seen the impact of Labor policy on skyrocketing energy prices [[link removed]]- with sharp rises this month in most people's bills.
During my recent Mobile Offices [[link removed]] and Doorknocking [[link removed]], I spoke with many locals and I know that cost of living issues are front of mind as many people feel the pinch of rising prices across the board.
Sadly, financial stress can lead to or exacerbate mental health issues. When Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Melissa McIntosh was here this month [[link removed]], we heard from many local service providers and practitioners about the rise in mental health issues they are struggling to deal with.
I also took the opportunity to talk in Parliament [[link removed]]about how Labor's cut to mental health services are impacting here on the Gold Coast.
Finally, it was wonderful to once again have the privilege of hosting and conducting a local citizenship ceremony [[link removed]]and welcoming some very proud new Australians. It is always a delight to experience the excitement of such an important occasion.
And this month I headed out with our newly preselected candidate for Fadden Cameron Caldwell [[link removed]]to talk with businesses on the northern Gold Coast. I know Cameron and his team are working hard and will take nothing for granted in the lead up to the byelection on July 15.
As always, I'm happy to hear from you at any time. Please feel free to send me an email and provide me with feedback: [[link removed]]
