In both our offices, Justin and I have stood up for equity – true access to the promises of our democracy. But the Supreme Court just made that work harder with a devastating decision that rolls back decades of progress for Black, brown, Hispanic, and Indigenous people.

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to gut affirmative action, Justin and I are working harder than ever to hold our offices and maintain our platforms to fight for justice and equity.

The justices who attacked affirmative action today are the same people who will claim that education is the “great equalizer.” But Rep. Justin Jones knows all too well what these anti-democracy voices really think of equal opportunity.

When Justin exercised his “equal” right to protest and engage in our democracy, he was expelled from the Tennessee House for “disorderly behavior.”

But the Republicans’ plan fell flat – and now, our movement for a better, more equitable future for our generation is getting national attention, stronger than ever.

Justin and I are refusing to back down. As the youngest members of Congress and the Tennessee House respectively, we will not rest until our generation passes the legislation our generation needs to experience true equity and access across this nation. But this is a tough fight, and Republicans are working around the clock to sabotage our efforts.
