John: things are changing, and not for the better.
We must come to terms with the fact that the country is shifting in a way that we progressives can no longer recognize. The Supreme Court reverses 50 years of progress, one decision at a time; decisions such as banning a woman from making a very personal decision about her health or blocking minorities from an opportunity to seek higher education.
This all started when then-Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnel illegally blocked President Obama from appointing then-judge Merrick Garland to the land's highest court. At the time, we Democrats were outraged but were overly confident that Hillary Clinton would be the next President. John, that is a mistake we are still paying for today.
That same level of overconfidence is floating around amongst Democrats across the country. We need to share with you the reality of the situation; Republicans have never been as fired up as they are right now. Remember, we are No Dem Left behind, and what we do is go into the scorching red parts of this country and have conversations there. Right now, those conversations are heated.
The campaign infrastructure of the GOP is superior to ours. We know that's not what you want to hear, but we must be honest with one another. Thousands of organizers are being trained to hit the streets across the country by the Desantis campaign. Trump has his own digital army, including many from across the world. We don't know if it will be Trump, Desantis, Pence, Haley, Christie, or the Mayor of Miami (who believes the Uyghurs are a video game.) At the end of the day, they will come together and do everything and anything to defeat President Biden.
What comes next? We fight, prepare, do what we do best, and organize. We know our candidate, and we see the progress President Biden and VP Harris have made.
