The future of educational opportunity was just decided by SCOTUS
Hi friend,
BREAKING: The Supreme Court has taken our country a significant step backward by ruling it unconstitutional to rely on race as part of a university admissions decision-making process in a ruling that contradicts a prior decision issued just seven years ago. Today’s decision is disappointing and ends a practice that increased minority representation and fairness at colleges.
When we think of race conscious college admissions programs, we think of stories like Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s; she referred to herself as the “perfect affirmative action child” and suggested that she likely would have never become the Supreme Court’s first Latina Justice without “race-sensitive” policies that helped her get to Princeton and Yale.
This decision robs certain students of a fair chance to receive the education they deserve and seek to achieve, and it also robs America’s workforce of having diversity of background, thought and perspective in more spaces. It displays the outsized influence conservative judicial activists have had on our country's policies and our progress as a nation. We want to hear from you, friend. Take our survey on the SCOTUS affirmative action ruling now>>>
