Hi John - Let me introduce myself: I’m Buddy Wheatley and I’m proud to be running for Kentucky Secretary of State, alongside Governor Andy Beshear.
When you come from a family that’s lived here for 150 years, being a Kentuckian becomes a part of your DNA.
I’ve played high school football here, went to the University of Kentucky, got married here, followed my father, grandfather and great-grandfather’s footsteps and pursued a career in public service as a firefighter - and eventually as a state representative.
When you’re a firefighter, your job is to always respond to the call. You can’t shy away from tough challenges. That’s why in the state legislature, I fought to expand access to the ballot box alongside Governor Beshear, including reforms that helped folks safely vote during the 2020 pandemic election.
But after the 2020 election, Secretary Michael Adams allowed these laws to revert back - and Kentucky once again became one of the most restrictive states in the country when it comes to access to the polls.
I’m ready to change that. And that’s why I’m running for Secretary of State.
As Secretary of State, my top priority is to increase voter turnout. That means ensuring our elections are fully funded, expanding access to the ballot box, and partnering with our school system to educate our youth.
But I can’t do this alone. This race is going to be expensive and I’m going to need grassroots donors like you on my team.
That’s why I’m humbly asking you to make a split donation between my campaign and DASS PAC so we can win in November and protect our democracy. Can you chip in now?
Thank you,
Buddy Wheatley
