Dear Friend,

The Fourth of July is always a good time to reflect on our freedom and what makes our country unique. Together, let's celebrate our progress to form a “more perfect union,” recognize our similarities and our differences, and strive to improve our country for our nation's future leaders.

As you prepare to enjoy Independence Day, if you choose to drink alcohol, do so using these tips (and of course be of legal drinking age):

Plan ahead with our Virtual Bar <[link removed]>.Remember to drink responsibly and look out for members of your group, too. Understand that it's important to make sure you know what you are drinking and how much alcohol your drink contains. A standard drink, whether beer (12oz at 5% ABV), spirits (1.5oz at 40% ABV), or wine (5oz at 12oz ABV),contains the same standard amount of alcohol.Note that a standard drink and what you are served may not be the same thing – be aware. If you choose to drink, follow the standard drink recommendationsand stay within your limits. Make sure you eat! And if you are hosting <[link removed]>, be sure to have food available for guests or ask them to contribute to the spread.Drink plenty of water and have lots of no-alcohol beverages on hand for yourself and friends. Consider offering a zero-proof cocktail or a no-alcohol drink for those who are choosing not to drink or who might be taking a day off. Before you leave home, plan for a safe ride back or offer to be the designated driver. Never, ever drive drunk or impaired by other substances.Have a conversation  <[link removed]>with your kids about being responsible and model this behavior for them. This includes not only drinking responsibly, but also following the rules in place—like not serving or supplying alcohol to anyone underage.

We are proud to have you as part of our community that takes pride in our Americanfreedoms, works to live a balanced lifestyle, and aims to be responsible for not only yourself and your own family but your fellow Americans.

From all of us at Responsibility.org, Happy 4th of July!
