Dear Colleague,
As we in the U.S. celebrate the anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we see the pro-life movement working to enact stronger protections for the unborn at the local, state, and national level. While there is much to do on the domestic front, it's important to remember that a nation's pro-life witness extends beyond its borders as well.
Hungary is well-known for its pro-life and pro-family domestic laws and policies. However, as C-Fam staff monitor international negotiations at the UN, Hungary often aligns itself with the EU's pro-abortion position, not even making statements in its national capacity to push back on the notion of abortion as a human right. C-Fam's President Austin Ruse delivered an address to the Danube Institute in Budapest urging Hungary to ensure that its foreign policy matches its domestic pro-life rhetoric. Stefano Gennarini, J.D. reports [[link removed]].
Meanwhile, members of the U.S. Congress are debating the bill that funds foreign aid. Republicans in the House of Representatives called for cuts to UN programs, increased accountability for spending, and the removal of programs promoted by the Biden administration to promote its "woke" social policy abroad. These revisions face an uphill battle. Lisa Correnti has the story [[link removed]].
Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Oas, Ph.D.
