In recent days, you’ve heard a lot from me and my team,
John.

I’ll tell you why. I’m running for Senate because I want to get real
things done for all Californians. But I also truly believe that our
democracy is in trouble.

In the last seven years, things have taken place in this country that I
never thought I would see in America— an attempted insurrection, the GOP
devolving into a destructive cult of personality around a deeply immoral
figure, and some of our most precious freedoms stripped away by a high
court system packed with partisan and reactionary justices.

But I want you to know that I remain optimistic about our future. We are a
deeply resilient country and we will get through this. There will come a
time when we look back on this period of history and wonder how someone
like Donald Trump ever became president. How soon we get to that point,
however, depends on us. It depends on the kind of effort we make to stop
him in 2024 and move this country in the right direction. Having another
staunch defender of our democracy in the Senate will help.

Tomorrow night, we will reach our FEC fundraising deadline, after which
our fundraising numbers will be made public. And emails like these help us
raise money to fight back against the cult of the former president. You
see, whether you donate $3, $5, or $10, it all adds up and gets us closer
to winning this Senate seat, re-electing Joe Biden, and getting real
things done.

And you know what else? MAGA Republicans will be studying these reports
looking for any weakness in our campaign. They are terrified that I’ll be
elected to the Senate, because I have the track record of holding the
corrupt accountable, and they know they are next.
