Team,
Former President Donald Trump was in my district on Sunday and told a crowd of Republican community members that the push to promote electric vehicles would mean the "decimation" of the state's auto industry.
He couldn't be more wrong.
Trump claims that electric cars will destroy more than half of U.S. auto jobs and “decimate” auto suppliers and the state of Michigan. It's clear that he doesn't understand the auto industry in our state and this country, and he certainly doesn't understand the working men and women who built it with their own hands.
Michigan put the world on wheels and now, our great state is leading the nation in electrifying the automotive industry.
Michigan is becoming a leader in battery plants and creating jobs across the state with the manufacturing of electric vehicles. Working with the Biden administration, we are building the electric vehicle infrastructure necessary to make EVs affordable, while creating good paying, union jobs in Michigan. More than that, we're leading the world in research into innovative mobility technology and alternative energy sources that will move our country and the world forward.
The future of cars is changing for the better to save our environment, and Michigan is going to be a driving force behind this innovation.
I want to know if you support Michigan being a leader in the electric vehicle industry. If you agree, will you join me by signing on to join me in the fight for the future of the auto industry in our state? [[link removed]]

– Debbie
