John,
I’ve been committed to supporting families for a long time, including back when I was a state legislator. For example, after I breastfed my son while on the Michigan House floor, I introduced legislation to ban discrimination against women who breastfeed in public.
In Congress, I’ve founded and now co-chair the Mamas’ Caucus, and I’m a founding member of the Dads’ Caucus too.
We recently hosted events around Father’s Day to talk about the policies we need to uplift working-class families, such as providing affordable childcare and paid leave, reducing poverty and ensuring pay equity, and addressing the unjust maternal and infant health disparities faced by Black women and other mothers of color.
I’m committed to making the bold changes that working-class families and families of color deserve. Will you help me build power in Congress to create a more equitable future by donating $5 or more today?

John,
It is shameful that in the richest nation in the history of the world, children are going to bed hungry. The costs of raising a child in our country are among the highest in the world, and the U.S. is also one of the only industrialized countries that does not offer a single day of paid family or medical leave.
With systemic racism in our country’s reproductive care, we’re also facing a Black maternal and infant health crisis. Black infants are more than twice as likely to die as white infants—a disparity greater than existed in 1850. Black women are also three times more likely to die during pregnancy than white women.
As a mama and founder of the Mamas’ Caucus in Congress, I refuse to accept this status quo.
I’m making sure that we center mothers of color in the policies we champion in Congress, from reducing poverty and reinstating the child tax credit, to closing the racial and gender wealth gap, to ensuring a national paid family and medical leave program, to investing in affordable childcare, to establishing healthcare equity and housing for all.
Will you chip in $5 or more so we can ensure that working-class families have the resources they need to thrive?
I’m committed to making the transformative changes that families of color and working-class families deserve.
For example, more than 30 million workers do not have access to a single day of paid leave. That includes 67% of low-wage workers, most of whom are women and people of color.
Clearly, our country’s policies and institutions have too often failed families of color, and this needs to change.
In partnership with Mothering Justice, I founded the Mamas’ Caucus to include women of color in the legislative decisions that impact them and their loved ones. We’re committed to advocating for all mothers that have been excluded from policymaking for so long.
With the Mamas’ Caucus and the newly established Dads’ Caucus, we’re building partnerships in Congress to fight for policies that support every family, including a national paid leave program and providing high-quality childcare and early education programs that pay providers a living wage.
We’re also advocating for legislation to lift people out of poverty, such as my bill the End Child Poverty Act, which would provide families with close to a $400/month payment per child, cutting deep child poverty by 70%.
Policies like this will make it easier for working class people to afford necessities like diapers and childcare, and will provide a long overdue social safety net for our nation’s working families and children.
Could you chip in $5, $25, $50 or more to join me in the fight for working-class families across our country?
