Friend, two years ago, the South Florida community - and all of America - was shocked by the horrifying act of gun violence in Parkland. We lost seventeen beautiful lives in the deadliest high school shooting in US history. I have met many parents who lost a child that day, a loss I can't imagine. While my husband Robert and I reflect on Valentine’s Day - our love for each other and our children - our hearts are heavy with the memories of those who are no longer with us: Aaron Feis Alaina Petty Alex Schachter Alyssa Alhadeff Cara Loughran Carmen Schentrup Chris Hixon Gina Montalto Helena Ramsay Jaime Guttenberg Joaquin Oliver Luke Hoyer Martin Duque Meadow Pollack Nicholas Dworet Peter Wang Scott Beigel When I ran for Congress, I made this community a promise that I would not stop fighting until we enact common sense gun safety reforms. As someone who lost her father to gun violence, I have never, ever forgotten that promise. To all of the students, parents, and young activists who have turned this unspeakable tragedy into action: thank you. And I stand with you, as a survivor, to honor those we lost by working to prevent others from suffering the same tragedy. 🧡Debbie Paid for by Debbie for Congress  |
