“The attainment of a diverse student body… is clearly a constitutionally permissible goal for an institution of higher education.”

Those words were written by Justice Lewis Powell 45 years ago, and they laid the legal groundwork for affirmative action in colleges and universities across the nation.

But today’s ultraconservative Supreme Court has casually thrown out this precedent, just as they casually threw out reproductive rights and voting rights. This morning, they voted to micromanage the college admissions process to keep people of color down.

The far-right has taken over a branch of our federal government and is using it to dismantle the rights and progress we’ve fought so hard for. We MUST rebalance the Supreme Court, John.

I wrote the bill to expand the Court.

I wrote the bill to create a code of ethics for justices.

I wrote the bill to enact Supreme Court term limits.

Now we have to pass these bills and stop the radical right-wing activist justices from doing more harm. If you stand with me, will you make a donation to my campaign so that I can keep my focus on taking on the far-right special interests who are pulling the strings?
