One of my proudest moments in Congress was last year when I voted for the Inflation Reduction Act — a landmark bill with critical provisions to lower the cost of prescription drugs. Because of what Democrats did, the price of insulin was capped at just $35 per month, and the government is now able to negotiate for lower prices on other drugs and crack down on drug companies that have price-gouged Americans for far too long.
We successfully took on Big Pharma and delivered real change. And because of how politics in Washington works, that means special interests are now working to undo progress and punish those who stood up to them.
I'm not about to let Big Pharma — or any special interest — buy this seat and silence the voices of my constituents. Big Pharma is working with one of the top lobbying firms in the country on an autopsy report about its failure to stop the Inflation Reduction Act. And we all know that's a prelude to millions of dollars' worth of attacks on the members of Congress who had the courage to vote for the bill.
As a Democrat representing a swing district, I'm likely to be a major target of Big Pharma in 2024, and I'm taking nothing for granted. That's why I've been reaching out to supporters ahead of my critical FEC deadline. The numbers we release after June 30 will be an opportunity to show that we're standing strong and that we aren't afraid of outside forces trying to take this seat.
Right now, we're still $6,328 away from where we need to be. So if you chip in right now, it would go a long way toward closing the gap before tomorrow night.
