Dear friend and climate advocate,

Last Monday, the City Council Committee on Environmental Protection and Energy passed out of committee the Climate Emergency Resolution, declaring a "state of climate emergency" for the City of Chicago and calling for the creation of a climate mobilization initiative.

The Climate Emergency Resolution now moves on to the full City Council for a vote next Wednesday, February 19, 2020.  The City Council meeting starts at 10AM that day in the Council Chamber on the 2nd floor of Chicago City Hall, 121 N LaSalle Street.

Join the group of environmental organizations (including Extinction Rebellion, 350 Chicago, Animal Rebellion, and Slaughter Free Chicago) who will be on site that day in support of the resolution, with a pre-meeting rally at 9AM.  Afterward, the group will move upstairs together for the meeting.  Feel free to bring your own signs.  (One suggested message for signs: "Thank you for declaring a climate emergency. Now divest from fossil fuels!")  Consider wearing a backpack to hold your sign since it may not be allowed in the Council Chamber.
