Team, after twice-impeached former president Donald Trump was indicted for the second (!) time, Attorney General Eric Holder had this to say about the possibility of him continuing his campaign if he were convicted:

“The notion that a convicted felon ... would serve as president of the United States is absurd, is simply absurd.”

A.G. Holder is absolutely right, team. If Donald Trump were to be convicted, it would be absurd for the Republicans to nominate him for president.

But then again, the GOP does a lot of absurd things, like:

❌ Enacting gerrymandered maps that allow their candidates to win majority power even when they win a minority of the vote

❌ Suppressing voting rights by implementing onerous restrictions and closing polling places

❌ Making it harder for voters to protect reproductive freedom by raising the threshold for citizen-led ballot initiatives

❌ Peddling fringe legal theories that would give GOP legislatures unchecked power over federal elections

…and the list goes on!
