Biden puts all his chips on the table with a push on "Bidenomics"
President Biden tied his fate to that of the economy with a huge push for "Bidenomics," reminding people that his administration is responsible for the post-pandemic recovery, historic job creation numbers, huge investments in infrastructure, a long-overdue crackdown on junk fees, and a rejuvenation of the middle class. The most consequential president in modern American history has accomplished a LOT so far, and he should be proud of it!
Take Action: Demand Congress oppose union busting and pass the PRO Act!
Teamsters call UPS' bluff, demand final offer by Friday
The union has had it with UPS executives' refusal to offer meaningful concessions to their legitimate demands for pay raises and cost-of-living adjustments and drew a bright red line in the sand, raising the prospects of the largest single-employer strike in American history. “When we say the current contract expires July 31, that means we want a new contract in place starting August 1. Not in six months. Not next spring. We demand a historic new contract August 1, with more money in our members’ pockets immediately. UPS has wasted enough time and hoarded these record profits. Our members want what they have earned," said Teamsters President Sean O'Brien in a powerful statement.
Take Action: Demand Congress pass the Medicare for All Act!

Ron DeSantis says he would eliminate four federal agencies if elected president
In the real-life Disney villain's Theocratic Magical Kingdom of America, there would be no Department of Education, no Department of Commerce, no Department of Energy, and no IRS. The Republican Party is littered with also-rans trying to prove their radical-right-wing presidential bona fides with fantastical plans to dismantle half the federal government, and DeSantis just threw himself atop the pile.

Deputies accused of abusing Black men are fired by Mississippi sheriff amid federal probe
Five white Mississippi deputy sheriffs participated in the nightmarish, sadistic torturing of two Black men. The cops beat them, forced them to shower together, violated one with a sex toy, shocked them repeatedly with their tasers, and shot one of the victims in the mouth — yet none of the officers faced any consequences until the federal government started looking into the horrific incidents. This isn't even the first time for these officers, either; several of the cops have been linked to other incidents with Black men that left two dead and others with vicious injuries.
Texas heatwave blamed for 13 deaths as scorching temperatures and smoke spread across US
Well, the country is once again insanely hot and blanketed with smoke from climate-change-driven heatwaves and climate-change-driven wildfires — all fueled by conservative policies. Crisis pregnancy center failed to spot an ectopic pregnancy, threatening patient's life, lawsuit alleges
An anti-abortion "crisis pregnancy center" nearly killed a woman because — get this — the people running the center aren't medical doctors and are completely unqualified to hand out medical advice to ANYONE, especially women with complicated pregnancies. How it's legal to operate these houses of deception is beyond comprehension.
Judge temporarily halts part of Kentucky law that bans gender-affirming care for trans youth
US District Judge David Hale threw a wrench in the GOP's anti-trans crusade, temporarily blocking the newly passed law, which was set to prohibit doctors from providing hormone therapy, including estrogen or testosterone treatment and medication that delays puberty, to patients under 18 years old. The ACLU of Kentucky sued in federal court, alongside several families of trans children, and Hale cited the plaintiffs' “strong likelihood” of succeeding on a constitutional challenge to the law. Gender-affirming care encompasses a spectrum of mental health and medical services — including, for some minors, hormone therapy. On the one hand, major medical associations say it should remain accessible to trans youth. On the other, the GOP thinks that's just weird, man.

Today’s Action: Tell Congress to do MORE to reduce gun violence!
The United States as officially recorded more than 330 mass shootings this year alone, and we haven’t even reached the halfway point. We barely have time to catch our collective breath before the next mass shooting makes headlines. There simply aren’t adequate words to express the continued loss we all experience just by living in America. It’s long past time that we finally begin the job of curbing the epidemic of unspeakable — and very preventable — gun violence and pass the real, meaningful gun-safety reform that is supported by a clear majority of Americans. The trauma is getting old.
It’s unacceptable that after so much loss, our elected officials still haven’t managed to advance any meaningful anti-gun violence legislation through Congress. In the United States it is still legal to own an AR-15, the very killing machine that has been used time and time again to murder and maim innocent Americans en masse. AR-15-style rifles were used in the mass murders at Sandy Hook, Parkland, Aurora, Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, San Bernardino, the Poway synagogue, the Tree of Life synagogue, the Buffalo supermarket, Uvalde, Louisville, Cleveland…the list goes on and on — and will continue to be used to massacre innocent civilians until we finally do something about it.
Call (202.224.3121) or email your representatives and demand Congress immediately take action to ban AR-15s and other assault rifles!
Assault rifles are specifically designed to kill on the battlefield; there is no good reason they should ever be in civilian hands. There were 646 mass shootings in the United States last year and 693 in 2021. Excluding suicide, there were 20,726 gun deaths in 2021, as well. According to the Washington Post, a child is shot every hour in America. We simply cannot stand idly by and let 2023 continue this horrific trend. The cause of this problem is clear — it’s the guns!
Call (202.224.3121) or email your representatives to demand Congress ban assault weapons immediately!
