Dear John

This month thousands of you helped us bring back nature by entering our prize draw. We’ll be in touch with the lucky winners in the next few days so fingers crossed if you grabbed a ticket.

The Co-operative Bank is matching all the money raised so our Postcode Gardener project will get a real boost – along with the communities and wildlife it’ll support. Keep reading for more on that plus this month’s other big stories...
Over 1,000 green spaces to be transformed with help from The Co-operative Bank
Postcode Gardener project
If you’ve been following our Postcode Gardener project you’ll know we’ve been bringing back nature with local communities and restoring greenery and wildlife in Bideford and Hackney.

We’re now very excited to be teaming up with The Co-operative Bank to transform over 1,000 green spaces in some of the UK's most nature-deprived communities over the next 3 years.

The UK government's own climate advisers have just published a damning report on government plans to tackle climate breakdown.

Despite the urgency of the situation, the CCC has found the government is way of track from meeting climate targets. From insulating homes or cutting transport emissions the experts say much more must be done. Isn't it time the PM listened to his advisors and got the country back on course?

Saving Horse Hill

The legal challenge to try and stop oil drilling at Horse Hill in Surrey reached the Supreme Court this month.

The local council approved the drilling referring to an environmental impact assessment that didn't consider the effects of burning the oil. We've intervened in the case to support former Surrey resident and campaigner Sarah Finch and the Weald Action Group who have challenged the legality of that decision.

If they win the implications for other fossil fuel projects would be huge.

Sadly not every legal challenge is a success.

This month our long-running case against the public funding of a vast gas project in Mozambique came to an end. And it wasn't the outcome we wanted.

Thousands of you have been supporting the case since 2020. Let's all remember that even though its not been the win for people and planet we'd hoped for, it's achieved a lot along the way.
