What We’re Reading
|
The high cost of a free education. New York State's free tuition still doesn't make college accessible for students who can't afford to attend school full time, and a coding bootcamp that allows students to defer tuition ends up costing them in the long run.
Classic California-style homes. At least 16,000 units of dilapidated housing tie back to the real estate empire of a single millionaire landlord, and the battle between a city manager and residents over whether a wealthy suburb should build more housing.
“And some, I assume, are good people.” President Trump's approach towards immigration policy has people refusing food aid because they're so afraid of deportation, while a handful of border patrol agents have managed to rise through the ranks despite corruption and cruelty.
