John,

June serves as an important reminder that our work is far from over.

First, some great news regarding voting rights! The Supreme Court recently made a crucial decision that preserves the integrity of the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act. The court established that in Alabama, a state with seven congressional seats and where one in four voters is black, the Republican-dominated state legislature denied black voters a chance to elect a second representative of their choice.

Suzan said it best: "This decision will affect redistricting cases across the country and help deliver a House of Representatives that better reflects the diversity of our nation." This is a significant step forward in ensuring equal representation for every single voter.

In addition to this landmark decision, earlier this month, President Biden brokered a deal to prevent a default. But we can’t forget that Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans were willing to let our country experience a catastrophic, once-in-a-generation default unless Democrats agreed to a slew of spending cuts to key social programs. It's time to say, enough is enough. Americans deserve leaders who will fight for them and their families, which is why it is crucial that we regain our Democratic House majority.

And we’re celebrating PRIDE! Time and time again, right-wing extremists spouting hate have tried to attack, silence, and censor LGBTQIA+ voices. But we will never stop fighting to deliver the full equality our LGBTQIA+ community deserves.

Suzan is fighting for progress for every Washingtonian and every American.

Thank you for being a part of this team!
