Glimpses of Happy Chickens at United Poultry Concerns 28 June 2023 Glimpses of Happy Chickens at United Poultry Concerns One of my favorite things is watching our chickens jump for joy (bread!). This brief audio-video captures one of those moments. It’s not just any bread. It’s Ezekiel flour-free grains & seeds – their favorite! Another favorite thing is watching the chickens under the trees inside our 12,000 square-ft. predator-proof sanctuary yard. Chickens love the woodsy places, reminding them of their original tropical forest home. Their genes hold their ancestral memory. Photo of our chickens under the trees. Another pleasure is watching our hens resting quietly together in the yard. This hen, Siena, is a rescued “game” hen who had been used as a “breeder” of roosters to entertain the Cro-Magnons. Photo of Siena in the foreground. These scenes were taken by photographer Rich Cundari during his visit to our sanctuary on May 17, 2023. ‑ Karen Davis Chickens – To Know Them is To Love Them United Poultry Concerns is a nonprofit organization that promotes the compassionate and respectful treatment of domestic fowl.
