John, all Inge Berge wanted to do was watch his daughter’s school play, The Little Mermaid.
When COVID restrictions made it difficult for him to do that, he went to Gloucester Public School administration seeking answers.
He openly recorded his interactions with school administrators (he is a citizen journalist after all) and never hid the fact that he was filming.
He had perfectly pleasant and polite conversations with everyone he interacted with, but shortly after he posted the video to Facebook he received a letter demanding he take the video down threatening him with legal action.
John, the writing is on the wall.
Parental rights, including their right to speak out challenging school board decisions, are in jeopardy nationwide.
Remember our client Shawn McBreairty?
His local school board in Maine unplugs his microphone and has law enforcement remove him from school board meetings when he dares to peacefully criticize the “woke” ideologies being projected upon kids at his child’s school.
This censorship of parents cannot stand.
Will you make a generous, tax-deductible gift of $35 or more to protect parental rights and freedom of speech from far left radicals?
All Inge wanted was answers.
He wanted an explanation as to why in March of 2022, his daughter’s school was still enforcing strict COVID restrictions and capacity limits that made it near impossible for parents like him to attend a school play.
He had every right to not just record his video, but to share it online – especially with other concerned parents in the same position.
But “Big Government” officials think they’re above accountability.
They don’t think they have to explain themselves or their policies to anyone.
That’s why we’re suing Gloucester Public Schools for its infringement of Inge’s constitutionally-protected free speech…
…and we have an important hearing at the First Circuit Court of Appeals later this summer.
But we need your help to win.
Which is why I’m asking you to make an urgent donation of $35 or more to help us defend free speech and parental rights.
If schools are allowed to censor videos and other free speech that paints them in a negative light, parents don’t stand a chance.
That’s why our lawsuit is so important and why we need your help.
We must demand transparency and accountability, especially in our schools.
So please, join the fight by making a donation of $35 or more today as we prepare to argue Inge’s case in front of the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Thank you for your continued support.
