SEPI SHYNE FOR CONGRESS
Hey team,
Fifty-four years ago today, in the early morning hours on a street in Greenwich Village, a police raid at the Stonewall Inn sparked an uprising that galvanized a movement for the rights of LGBTQ+ people across the globe.
Led by courageous transgender activists of color and countless Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual activists who had been marginalized and even criminalized simply for living as their authentic selves, Stonewall was a turning point in our country’s struggle for justice and equity for all.
Although the Stonewall Uprising happened before I was born, there is barely a day that goes by where I’m not reminded of the power of this moment and the legacy it left for generations of LGBTQ+ activists.
From marriage equality, to HIV/AIDS justice, to transgender rights, and to the record number of LGBTQ+ people running for office, the voices of Stonewall vibrantly echo throughout the justice movements of today calling on us to keep going, to keep fighting, and to keep celebrating our full, beautiful authentic selves.
I am running for Congress to keep the spirit of Stonewall alive, and do right by the activists who led the way, but I’ll need your support to get there. Chip in $5 whatever you can to finish the work Stonewall started and protect and empower our LGBTQ+ community.

I often think back to the words of Marsha P. Johnson when she said, "No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us."
As a nation, we have a long way to go to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of Stonewall. Violence against our LGBTQ+ community is on the rise, hateful, transphobic laws are being passed all across the country, and the mere discussion of LGBTQ+ identities is still considered so shameful it has been outright banned in some places.
But Stonewall reminds us that — even in the wake of hate and ugliness — there is nothing we can’t do when we stand together as one voice in defiance of those who seek to divide us.
I’ve been on the frontlines of the fight for LGBTQ+ justice for over two decades and I’m not slowing down anytime soon. On this anniversary, chip in $5 or any amount you can to bring the fight from Stonewall to the halls of Congress today.
With gratitude,
Sepi Shyne
