John,

What if I told you there’s a bank out there whose main purpose was to
reduce poverty? A bank that gave out loans to fund vital health services
and to help tackle the climate crisis? A bank that worked for us?

That’s basically what the World Bank is for - at least on paper. The thing
is John, it’s not really
fulfilling its mission as it should and it’s leaving the millions of
people bearing the brunt of the economic crisis behind. But now that it
has appointed its new President, Ajay Banga, we have a great opportunity
to push the bank to do better. 

Over 10,000 people from Canada to Australia and from Nigeria to Belgium

A bank with a mission to reduce poverty, fund health services and fight
for climate justice should not penalize those at the sharp end of the
global economic crisis. It exists to serve people, it’s funded by us, so
it should work for us. We’re going to make sure the new World Bank
